Marketing-Strategist-Carmen-Sognonvi

Carmen Sognonvi is founder of Top Flight Family, the essential resource on luxury family travel.

A seasoned media professional in both digital and print media, Carmen Sognonvi began her career in the advertising departments of Surface magazine and Town & Country magazine.

In 2004 she founded Racialicious, an award-winning blog about the intersection of race and pop culture, and grew that audience to over a quarter million readers a month. Past Racialicious staffers have gone on to join some of the country’s top media properties, including ESPN, MTV News, Jezebel, and Upworthy. Carmen was an early pioneer in podcasting, launching a companion podcast for the blog in 2005. She has spoken about digital media trends at journalism and media conferences hosted by organizations including The Poynter Institute and BlogHer.

In 2010 she joined her husband’s then-new martial arts school, Urban Martial Arts, as General Manager. In just four years, she tripled the number of students enrolled and expanded the school’s space to double its size. She landed Urban Martial Arts mentions in top business publications including Inc, Entrepreneur, and Fox Business; and she was invited to speak about marketing and entrepreneurship at leading business conferences.

Carmen graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Political Science and lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and two daughters.
